Highlights

Discover the library anew. Borrow an oil painting, watch films and documentaries, listen to your favourite music or play the piano with us. Learn all about Berlin in the Berlin Collections and the Digital State Library.

We also lend art, films and music. Our Artothek offers 2000 originals, including oil paintings, sculptures, photographs and graphics. In the Cinematheque, more than 70,000 films, series, documentaries, music films and stage recordings await you. The music library is also wide-ranging: From music of the Middle Ages to Mozart, from blues to rap and from salsa to folklore, you will find everything including the corresponding sheet music. In the piano room, you can hit the keys yourself.

We are also the experts on Berlin. In the Berlin Collections section you will find information on historical events as well as current debates. The Digital State Library Berlin contains digital publications and sources on Berlin regional studies and urban development as well as on Berlin's regional and cultural history.
